Our Magical Adventure

Enjoy the little things, for one day you make look back and realize they were the big things.”
My list of things to do is enormous. Responsibilities with my business, volunteer activities in school, and dishes.... so why start a blog about my family's adventures?

For one, I love it. It feels a bit like a journal. I have not journaled since I was in the 5th grade.

For two, it is just mine. I plan on not reading over my blog posts for typos -- it is just me. So expect a lot of spelling mistakes. I am a horrible speller.

For three, it is for my kids. When my mother died, I poured over her stacks of journals seeking out bits of information that would tell me more about who she really was... what she really wanted.... how she saw me. This blog is a way for my kids to sense a bit of me. Maybe someday -- to use it to jostle their memories about things that we would do together or values that I had.

For four, my uncle is not big on facebook and asked me one day, "Whatever happened to gannongang.com? "I used to post pictures to the site and detail a bit about our adventures living in Japan. This website is my little family album detailing more adventures to come. Picking up again,....

For five, it is for my friends. I have friends who have asked me out for coffee to learn more about something that I am doing with my kids. I get the phrase often "you should put that on pinterest" for some things that I do -- I'd rather just journal about it for now.   I am writing this for them too -- maybe for friends I don't know that I have yet. I am certainly no expert on parenting, but I do love it.

I love the non-traditional approaches we have taken -- and will take in this journey. I am sure that I will make a ton of mistakes along the way.

It is all part of growing up!
